If you are looking for a chilled out beach atmosphere in the day turned boozy central at night, then Sihanoukville is a good place to be. There are a few beaches to chose from and we spent our 4 nights in a small studio apartment right on the seafront of Serendipity beach. The sand is lovely and soft, although lacking in width as the bars that line it spill out onto the beach. The weather is perfect with temperatures reaching 34 degrees so it really was a great tanning opportunity. However, be warned: the sea is in no way refreshing as the sun causes it to feel like stepping into a warm bath! But hey, it is a small price to pay for the luxury of being away!
There are some lovely seaside restaurants, our favourite being Aquarium which served a delicious barbeque dinner.
At night time the bars can get fairly lively. We found the busiest bar to be The Nap House, which had friendly staff and is open 24 hours. Looking back, we could have definately explored Sihanoukeville a lot more, but we were too set in our relaxing routine of lounging on the beach, dining at restaurants and heading to the bars in the evening for drinks. Such is life!
